We're generally the first to say that there is no replacement for leather when it comes to a riding jacket, but Aether makes such slick stuff that we may have been converted (to small degree). Starting with highly abrasion resistant field nylon (seam sealed of course), breathable mesh lining, and integrated D3O body armour, and you end up with a fairly indestructible cover.
