Blue Rodeo - 5 Days in May
Blue Rodeo is as Canadian as you get. In fact, they have toured Canada every summer like clockwork for the last 25 years, and we're so proud to say that we've been there for several of their Vancouver area shows. No...they don't have a new album or an impending tour, so why are we talking about them you ask? Well, they were inducted into the Canadian Music Hall of Fame this past weekend, and we could not let that go. We know that most of our readers are not geographically in Canada or are Canadian, and therefore are not privy to the magic that is Blue Rodeo. We therefore feel it is incumbent upon us as patriots to spread the gospel. The above song is, in our opinion, the most representative of their overall sound. Recorded on band member Greg Keelor's farm in Southern Ontario in 1992, the band originally intended the recording to serve as a demo, however they felt that songs from those recording sessions had a warmth and spontaneity that could not be improved on with a studio version, and released them as is on the album "5 Days In July." Since being released, the album has gone six times platinum. Enjoy! Click the link below to learn more about Blue Rodeo, and listen to a live version of "Lost Together," another classic.
