LCD Soundsystem - Shut Up & Play the Hits

On February 8th 2011, LCD Soundsystem announced that they were calling it quits and playing their last show ever on April 2nd. Rather than the cliché imploding that most bands do, this was a simple "moving on" on the parts of the band members...and the final show a celebration rather than a funeral. A quote from the event was "if it's a funeral, let's make it the best funeral ever." The sold out Madison Square Garden lasted 4 hours, and featured guest performances by the Arcade Fire, Reggie Watts, and more. The lead up to and the show itself was shot and edited into a documentary premiering at this years Sundance Festival. Although LCD may be over, we're keeping our fingers crossed that it's not the end for singer and creative genius James Murphy, as the doc ends with a shot of him sitting in a room staring at his instruments.
