Just past the Canadian border (Peace Arch) in Washington State is the non-billboard art installation called "Non Sign II" by Lead Pencil Studio. Made with literally thousands and thousands of metal rods, this billboard seems to be advertising nothing more than the view, or the atmosphere. Lead Pencil sums it up best. “Borrowing the effectiveness of billboards to redirect attention away from the landscape… this permanently open aperture between nations works to frame nothing more than a clear view of the changing atmospheric conditions beyond.” Well worth the trip South for a look.
